The last full loops often start around 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM. Don't leave your trip to Fiesole for the very last departure unless you plan to dine there and take a taxi back.
The first bus of the morning is the freshest and least crowded. Sunset trips (in summer) offer magical lighting for photography.
Recommended for peace of mind, though tickets can be bought on board (cash/card) if seats are available.
Note that while state museums are free on the first Sunday of the month, the private hop-on hop-off bus requires a paid ticket as usual.
